The Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Society (PCICS) is an International professional forum that promotes excellence in pediatric cardiac critical care medicine. Nursing has developed a strong voice and presence within the organization. In fact, under the leadership of the current President, Peter Laussen, MD, the society has reorganized its governmental structure for nursing to be in full partnership with their interdisciplinary colleagues. The bylaws and PCICS Board of Directors will now include nursing in full partnership (inclusive of a nursing Vice President and ultimately will make up 50% of the board). This is an exciting time for nursing and we need you to become members of PCICS and participate in the first voting cycle to include nursing on the Board of Directors ballot. The timeline is short so please act now.
Timeline for Board Nominations:
* Nominations are now closed
* A nominations committee (appointed by the PCICS Board) approves the slate of nominees by Friday, April 24, 2015.

Voting opens Monday, April 27, 2015 at 9:00 am EST and membership closes for voting privileges at this time -

o Voting closes Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at midnight EST.
o Successful candidates notified and announced by June 3, 2015.
In addition to this important interdisciplinary structure change, PCICS will be forming sub-committees that will require nursing presence. These committees will be an excellent professional development opportunity for interested nurses. PCICS members will be receiving more information on the sub-committees via email. Please remember, only current members in good standing can be considered for nomination and have voting privileges. You will have until Monday, April 27 at 9:00 am EST to join or renew your membership and have the ability to vote nurses onto the board.
