The plan provides for an increase of 60-80 new inpatient beds by 2013 with a long range goal to increase the number of inpatient beds from 250 to 600 over the next twenty years. The first phase of the expansion includes cancer care, critical care and an improved emergency department with a new helistop nearby. Helen Devos Children's Hospital

Helen Devos Children's Hospital Grand Rapids Michigan

The new Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital is now open! Located in Grand Rapids, Michigan, this new $286 million pediatric medical facility began receiving patients on 1-11-11, providing comprehensive medical care for ill and injured children. Melnic Consulting Group enjoyed a tour of the children's hospital last week. In January of 2010, the first patients were moved into this brand new 206 bed, 464,000 square foot children’s hospital. It was a beautiful new building with a warm friendly entrance. Children and families were the focal point of this design. On the upper level there are eleven private sleeping rooms for parents. A peaceful setting is found in a seperate glassed in room with views of the city. All private rooms gives patients a quiet environment to receive exceptional care.

The state-of-the-art children’s hospital has 206 beds on fourteen floors offering over forty pediatric specialties for patients in the West Michigan region, including dedicated emergency and trauma services, diagnostic imaging and operating rooms. Every hospitalized child has a private room to accommodate family dining and overnight stays for parents, and the Level III NICU, has forty private rooms for premature and critically ill newborns. This hospital is a particularly beautiful healing environment dedicated to the health care needs of the region’s children and their families.

At Helen Devos, we are looking for a CNS in the PICU. We learned that a pediatric nurse with 3 or more current PICU experience and a Masters in Nursing is a good candidate for the job. CNS certification is not required. We are looking for candidates who embrace research and best practices.
