They order and interpret laboratory and radiographic tests in addition to performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

The PNP is responsible for assessments, diagnoses and plans of care in this progressive care unit that provides cardiac step-down services that include 24 hour live telemetry monitoring, temporary pacing, ventricular assist devices, ventilator management and management of vasoactive infusions. Care and monitoring in this unit are provided for high-risk cardiac pediatric patients who are recovering from serious illness, post-operative cardiothoracic surgical and cardiac catheterization procedures.
