The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in Palliative Care provides inpatient and outpatient coverage, working with the primary team and providing consulting services. The Palliative Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner role includes pain management, assistance with medical decision-making, and spiritual, psychosocial and emotional support. Responsibilities of the PNP in Palliative Care include conducting comprehensive, focused assessments of children and families with palliative care needs, formulating, implementing, monitoring, evaluating and modifying palliative plans of care with input from the palliative team and other healthcare providers, and providing support and education for patients and their families to determine their understanding of the condition, proposed treatment plan and options.

From admission through discharge, cardiology, cardiovascular surgery and heart transplant patients receive comprehensive critical care in the unit.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit of this leading academic children's hospital in the Pacific Northwest, working with babies, children, teens and young adults who are critically ill or injured or are recovering from complex surgeries. Specialized care available for these critically ill children includes a nationally recognized Extracorporeal Life Support Program (ECMO/ECLS) for children who require life-sustaining heart and lung support.
