This is a great opportunity for the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with experience in caring for children in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit to join the PICU team at the West campus community hospital location of this leading academic children’s hospital. In consultation with and under the direct supervision of the attending physician, the PNP in this PICU assesses, evaluates, plans and implements comprehensive medical or surgical care for children who have been injured, undergone surgery or are undergoing special diagnostic procedures. Additional responsibilities of this advanced practice provider include initiating and changing orders for tests and patient care based on the condition of the patient, and identifying and documenting changes or abnormal findings in the condition of patients using appropriate problem solving skills and experience. The PNP is also an educational resource for patients and their families.

Using their clinical expertise, the PNP in Orthopedics works closely with the orthopedics team using skills in physical assessment, diagnosis, well-child care and management of illness. They create plans of care, evaluate diagnosis and effectiveness of interventions and treatment, and develop outcomes as measurable goals subject to revision as necessary during the course of treatment.
