PNP, CICU, Durham, NC

PNP, Cardiac Transplant, Durham, NC

This leading academic children's hospital in the eastern United States has a great opportunity for an acute care certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) or Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) in their Surgical Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). This recently created specialized team is solely devoted to caring for infants from around the world who need surgical intervention. As the PNP or NNP in the Surgical NICU, you will be a member of the team that provides seamless care to infants with birth defects such as congenital diaphragmatic hernia, lung lesion, omphalocele and gastroschisis as well as fetal surgery patients. You will be involved in patient care, education, program development, consultation and research with exposure to a high volume of complex surgical neonates and fetal surgery patients in this large Level III NICU.

We have several opportunities, twelve hour night shifts and twelve hour day/night rotation shifts, for Registered Nurses in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) at a leading academic children's hospital in the Pacific Northwest. The RN in the CICU is a member of the pediatric team that provides world class clinical care in this13 bed critical care unit for infants, children and young adults up to 21 years of age. Patients come from a four state region for treatment of complex congenital defects requiring surgery, cardiology and/or cardiac transplant care. Patients in the CICU receive specialized care including ECMO/ECLS, Berlin Heart, continuous renal replacement therapy, nitric oxide, ventricular assist devices, open chest procedures and temporary pacemakers.

The nurse needs to be proficient in the surgical care of pediatric patients and have a solid knowledge and understanding of congenital heart disease and cardiac surgical interventions, including Arterial Switch, Norwood Stage I, Fontan, Tetrology of Fallot Repair, Heart Transplants and ECMO. This is a full-time, Monday - Friday, 40 hour/week, exempt position with call required.
