NAPNAP 2008 - Day One

This morning, Melnic began by hosting the coffee breaks in the exhibit hall. It was a great time to meet many of the pediatric nurse practitioners. A number of people wanted to know where our booth was to enter the iPhone giveaway. Jennifer and I were swamped with a constant stream of smiling faces eager to have a chance to win the iPhone. It was nice to put faces with names of people I have talked with many times on the phone over the years.

I was pleased to be located next to Lori, the nurse recruiter from Cook Children’s Hospital in Ft. Worth. We enjoyed a buffet lunch in the atrium alongside a gurgling brook. The Dallas job market for Pediatric Nurse Practitioners includes lots of opportunities at Cook Children’s, Dallas Children’s, and Medical City Dallas. I enjoyed touching base with the recruiters and discussing available jobs that I can help them with.

The opening reception in the exhibit hall included wine, appetizers, and a steady flow of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners eager to swap stories about where they worked. I loved talking with students who will soon be new grads and hear their enthusiasm for pediatric nursing. I had a great group of ladies in pink who were excited about their future as a PNPs.

A sushi dinner topped off a great day! Can't wait to get started again tomorrow.

See you there,

Jill
