*Designed to develop diverse and culturally competent expert providers who can meet the complex care needs of neonates and infants with acute and chronic health issues in the hospital and during the transition from hospital to home and community.
*Hybrid curriculum supports knowledge and skill acquisition in advanced health assessment, growth/development, physiology, pathophysiology, nutrition, pharmacology, diagnostic/therapeutic strategies and role development. Specialty courses are integrated with core MS courses. Students complete mentored clinical practice experiences in a variety of acute and convalescent care settings.
*Academically rigorous program requires a minimum of two years of recent acute care experience with critically ill neonates or infants; not open to MEPN applicants.
*Students develop NP competencies through intensive exposure to the care of acutely ill and recuperating neonates/infants; 600 direct clinical practice hours are required for program completion. Graduates are eligible for CA Board of Registered Nursing licensure as NPs, and Neonatal NP certification through the National Certification Corporation (NCC).
