Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Role and Responsibilities

How Does Your NNP Role Compare to Others?

Whether you are an experienced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, or a new graduate just beginning your exciting career in the NICU, you will find the role of the NNP varies from hospital to hospital.  If you have worked in other NICUs prior to your current position, you surely have noticed that the responsibilities of the NNP in your current NICU work environment vary from those you have previously experienced.  Whether you collaborate with physicians or work independently, your responsibilities most likely include assessment and diagnosis, development and management of plans of care and family education.  You may also attend deliveries, transport infants, or provide staff development education to name a few.
