Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford | Melnic Consulting Group

When David and Lucile Packard donated $40 million in 1986 to build the region’s first children’s hospital in a beautiful natural setting, their vision was one of providing a place of healing where every child could go for nurturing of body and soul.  Since its opening in 1991, Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford has grown to be one of the top children’s hospitals in the United States.  In the most recent “Best Children’s Hospitals” report from U.S. News & World Report for 2014-15, LPCH is ranked in nine pediatric specialties, three of them (nephrology, cardiology and heart surgery, pulmonology) in the top ten in the U.S., quite an accomplishment for the youngest children’s hospital on the list!

Lucile Packard has embarked upon a $1 Billion expansion of their children’s hospital.  Scheduled to be completed in early 2017, the new facility will include 521,000 square feet of space that will include enhanced medical facilities as well as more than three acres of healing gardens and green space.  Its founder would be so pleased that her love of nature will continue to be reflected in the hospital’s new expansion.
