Clinical Nurse Specialist NICU Job

Mattel Children's Hospital
We are looking for an experience NICU CNS for the Level III NICU at Mattel Children's Hospital. With the opening of the new Mattel Children’s Hospital within the UCLA Ronald Reagan Medical Center in June, 2008, the NICU is a 32 bed unit (22 ICU beds and 10 intermediate beds). There are approximately 500 admissions to the NICU/year which we anticipate is increasing in the new facility. There are approximately 300 transports a year with busy surgical and medical consultative services. There is considerable depth in all the Pediatric Medical and Surgical Subspecialties that are all available on site. In addition, there is a congenital cardiac program on-site an ECMO program and a Head-Cooling Program in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. There are approximately 2,200 births per year with many of the mothers being considered high-risk prior to delivery. Maternal transports are an important part of the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Program. UCLA has been a leading Neonatal Center in Southern California, a major referral center for high risk mothers and neonates. A widely respected infertility and fetal diagnostic program exists at UCLA. In addition to the UCLA Westwood NICU, the fellows have some exposure to the UCLA Santa Monica NICU (a newly constructed NICU) which is a 16 bed NICU with an in-house delivery service (1800 births/year) that is situated closer to the Pacific Ocean. The High Risk Neonatal Follow-up Clinic is a multi-disciplinary enterprise and achieved the Center of Excellence status in the State of California. The neonatology faculty consists of twelve M.D.s.
